The Palm Beach Central Broncos captured the District 10 title in Class 8A with a 28-14 victory over the Palm Beach Gardens Gators on Thursday night. The Broncos clinched their third straight district title.
Palm Beach Central(7-2, 4-0) took a 7-0 lead 22 seconds into the second quarter when quarterback Anarjahe Douriet found wide receiver Bryan Robinson for a 16-yard touchdown on the right side of the end zone. Douriet connected a 23-yard strike to Robinson for a score on their next possession at the 7:28 mark.
Palm Beach Gardens(6-2, 3-1) got on the scoreboard with 6:10 to go in the second. Lynden Moss fired the ball to the right hash marks and wide receiver Jabril Jarrett on a 70-yard pass play.
The Broncos reclaimed a 14-point margin with 1:43 remaining in the first half. Defensive back Kamron Young intercepted a pass and returned it 79 yards for a touchdown.
In the third quarter, Palm Beach Central expanded the gap to 28-7 with 39.8 seconds left. Douriet rolled out to his right and tossed a 10-yard pass to wide receiver Cedric Johnson in the front right corner of the end zone.
The Gators tried to stay in the contest during the final quarter. Running back Ernest Blackshear busted through with a run and scored from two yards away to make it 28-14 with 8:10 remaining.
