Panthers Escape Penguins

     The Florida Panthers beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2 at BB&T Center on Tuesday night. The Panthers extended their points streak to six games.
     Both teams were unable to score during the first. It would change midway through the second period.
     Noel Acciari fired a shot from the high slot which went off Matt Murray and went high in the air. The puck rolled down the backside of Murray and into the Penguins cage at the 10:54 mark. Dryden Hunt and Colton Sceviour were credited with assists on the play to give Florida(4-2-3) a 1-0 lead.
     Pittsburgh(6-4-0) evened the contest up just over a minute later at 11:57. Teddy Blueger carried the puck through the slot area and passed to his right. Jake Guentzel returned it to him in the crease for the tap in. It was Guentzel's eighth point in eight games against the Cats.
     The Panthers reclaimed the lead with exactly two minutes left in the period. Jonathan Hubedeau feed a pass from the low slot to the left circle and Denis Malgin put in a wrist shot.
     In the third period, Florida got a two-goal lead with 6:18 remaining. Anton Stralman blasted a slap shot from the right point and it was redirected in by Huberdeau from the slot area.
     Again the Penguins responded immediately with a goal with 5:35 left. Guentzel got the puck in the low left circle, connected a pass through the crease and Patric Hornqvist guided it in from the right side of the net.
     Florida put the game away with 1:03 to go in the third for a 4-2 lead. Frank Vatrano scored into an empty net after the Pens pulled their goalie for an extra attacker.
