Aleksander Barkov Signs Contract Extension

     The Florida Panthers have signed center Aleksander Barkov to a contract extension. It is an eight-year deal worth $80 million and will last through the 2029-30 season. 
     Barkov, the current Selke Trophy winner and Panthers captain, was drafted by the team second overall in the 2013 NHL Draft. He has played with Florida for the past eight seasons.
     He has compiled 181 goals and 284 assists for the Panthers in 529 regular season games. Barkov has led the team to three postseason appearances which includes getting into the Stanley Cup Playoffs over the previous two seasons. He is second all-time in Florida Panthers franchise history in goals, assists and points. Barkov is first in team history with a plus/minus of +44.
