Deerfield Beach Topples Boca Raton

     The Deerfield Beach Bucks made the short five-mile trip up I-95 and blanked the Boca Raton Bobcats 40-0 on Friday night. Deerfield Beach clinched the District 13-8A title with the victory. The Bucks captured their sixth consecutive district championship. 
     Boca Raton(7-2, 4-1) was not in it from the start. The Bucks jumped out to a 6-0 lead when running back Jaziun Patterson sprinted up the middle on a 34-yard touchdown with 5:55 left in the first quarter. Following an  
     Deerfield Beach(7-2, 5-0) safety Stephen Landers Jr. made an interception within the first minute of the second, Patterson capped the drive as he went through the right side of the line from four yards away into the end zone at the 10:42 mark. Patterson rumbled from 49 yards out untouched through the middle of the field with 4:22 remaining in the second for a 19-0 lead. 
     The Bucks scored again at 5:54 of the third quarter for a 26-point margin. Quarterback Luke Collins connected a six-yard touchdown toss to wide receiver Joseph Kennerly on the front right side of the end zone. 
     Later in the second half, Deerfield Beach put up more points. Wide receiver A.J. Jenkins made a one-handed catch in the back right corner of the zone on a six-yard touchdown pass by quarterback Michael Merdinger.
