Florida Atlantic University officials announced on Thursday that the school's athletic program will be moving into the American Athletic Conference. The Owls will be exiting Conference USA where they have been since 2013. FAU had previously been in the Sun Belt Conference from 2005 until 2013.
FAU will not be the only school leaving Conference USA. They will go along with Rice, Charlotte, UAB, North Texas and UTSA. Three current schools in the AAC are leaving for the Big 12.
