The Milwaukee Brewers breezed by the Miami Marlins 8-0 at Miller Park on Friday night. It was the second straight game that the Fish were easily handled by the Brew Crew. Miami lost to them on Thursday night 12-3.
The Brewers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Lorenzo Cain crossed the plate on a bases-loaded walk by Eric Thames against Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Richards.
Milwaukee(12-9) went on a two-out rally in the fourth inning and increased their margin to 6-0. Cain walked and then scored on a triple by former Marlin Christian Yelich to deep right-center field. Ryan Braun came up next and smashed the first pitch over the left-field fence for his fifth home run of the season. Travis Shaw followed him and he blasted a solo home run on a 0-0 count to right-center field. Thames eventually made it a six-run gap when he scored on a wild pitch.
In the sixth inning, Miami(5-14) gave up another two runs. Yelich scored on a base hit by Shaw into left field. Three batters later, Orlando Arcia singled up the middle for Braun to score.
