The Miami Marlins took care of the Philadelphia Phillies 8-4 at Marlins Park on Monday night. The Marlins continue to roll as they have been victorious in five of their last six games.
Philadelphia(16-12) started off the second inning with two runs. Jorge Alfaro smashed a two-run homer to center field on the first pitch. Maikel Franco was able to score in front of him on the play.
Miami(10-18) responded with one run in the bottom of the frame. Cameron Maybin scored when Lewis Brinson grounded out to short and made it 2-1.
The Marlins would compile four runs in the bottom of the third and did not surrender the lead again. Derek Dietrich doubled into right-center field which brought in Martin Prado. Brian Anderson followed and knocked in Starlin Castro and Dietrich with a double to right field. Anderson eventually scored on a ground out by Miguel Rojas to third and gave the Fish a 5-2 margin.
The Phillies closed the gap to 5-4 in the top of the fourth inning. Franco ripped a two-run home run to left field and Scott Kingery crossed the plate.
Castro answered back with a double to left and knocked in J.T. Realmuto in the bottom of the fourth. In the seventh inning, Anderson powered a two-run homer to center field on a 1-2 count.
