Longtime Palm Beach Post sports columnist Dave George retired on Thursday. He was part of their sports department for the past 40 years and had a clear grasp of all South Florida athletics along with national sporting events and sports issues. His final assignment for the Palm Beach Post was the Miami Heat playing against the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on Thursday night.
George was always constantly at work getting the story. He would be noticed especially in the press box when it was at a major South Florida sporting event or when one of the local professional teams were involved in any playoff game. Unlike many sports writers in his profession over the past two decades, George rarely did any interview segments on television and radio.
