The Miami Heat wrapped up an Eastern Conference playoff spot with a 101-98 victory over the Atlanta Hawks at American Airlines Arena on Tuesday night. The Heat return to the postseason for the first time since 2016. They finished tied for eighth place in the conference last season, however they lost the tiebreaker to the Chicago Bulls. The Hawks had the worst record in the Eastern Conference entering this contest.
Miami(42-36) had a 30-25 advantage after one quarter and found themselves behind Atlanta(22-56) at halftime 56-52. Both clubs were tied at 78-78 after three quarters, then the Heat outscored the Hawks 23-20 in the final frame.
