Marlins Fight Off Yankees

The Miami Marlins split a two-game series with a 9-1 win over the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night. The Fish, who snapped a three-game losing streak, have Wednesday off and face the Brewers in Milwaukee this weekend.
Miami(5-12) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Former Yankee Starlin Castro knocked in Derek Dietrich with a single into left field. J.T. Realmuto made his season debut and hit a ball to short. Didi Gregorius made a fielding error for Miguel Rojas and Castro to score.
Cameron Maybin crossed the plate in the second inning when Dietrich got a base hit into shallow center field for a 4-0 gap.
The Marlins gained a seven-run margin in the top of the fifth. Realmuto smashed a three-run homer to right field on a 3-1 pitch. Castro and Justin Bour were able to score in front of him on the play.
The Fish added two more runs in the eighth inning to make it 9-0. Tomas Telis singled to deep right field to bring in Realmuto. Maybin followed with a sacrifice fly to right that scored Brian Anderson.
In the ninth inning, New York(8-8) finally broke the shutout. Miguel Andujar smacked a solo home run to left field on a 0-1 count with two out.
