Stanton And Yankees Stomp Marlins

The Miami Marlins began a road trip and were dominated by the New York Yankees 12-1 at Yankee Stadium on Monday night. Giancarlo Stanton played against the Marlins for the first time since he was traded to the Yankees during the off-season.
The Fish played 12 of their first 15 games of the regular season at home in Miami. The Yanks played only one of a possible three games over the weekend in Detroit against the Tigers.
New York(8-7) struck first in the opening inning against Caleb Smith and loaded the bases with one out. Gary Sanchez hit a ball deep in the hole on the left side for Brett Gardner to cross the plate. Two batters later, Tyler Austin walked to bring home Aaron Judge.
The Bronx Bombers extended their margin in the bottom of the second. Aaron Judge smashed a 2-1 pitch for a home run to right field with two out.
The Yankees made it a five-run gap in the third inning. Aaron Hicks doubled into left-center field which brought in Didi Gregorius and Sanchez.
Miami(4-12) surrendered another couple of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a two-out rally. Stanton was hit by a pitch and Gregorius followed with a two-run homer to right field to make it 7-0.
The Yanks scored for the fifth consecutive inning with four runs and had an 11-0 lead. Miguel Andujar doubled to deep left to score Austin. Several batters later, Judge had a RBI-single to left  which scored Andujar. Sanchez singled into center field to bring home Ronald Torreyes and Gardner.
In the seventh inning, Gregorius homered for the second time in the contest. This time it was a solo home run to right-center field on a 2-1 count.
The Marlins would get the bases loaded in the top of the eighth. Justin Bour reached base on a fielder's choice and Bryan Holaday crossed the plate to break the shutout.
