Red Sox Top Marlins

The Miami Marlins continued to face tough competition at home this week as they lost to the Boston Red Sox 7-3 at Marlins Park on Monday night. It was a rare appearance for the Red Sox in South Florida during the regular season. The Marlins finish their six-game home stand on Tuesday.
Miami(2-3) got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the third. Brian Anderson smacked a solo home run to right field on a 2-0 pitch from Red Sox starting pitcher Brian Johnson. It was the first homer in the majors for Anderson in his two-season career.
In the fourth inning, Boston(4-1) was able to compile three runs against Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Richards and took the lead with a two-out rally. Xander Bogaerts reached base with an infield single to short. Eduardo Nunez doubled into left field for Bogaerts to score and tie the contest. After Jackie Bradley Jr. walked, Christian Vazquez doubled into left which got Nunez and Bradley across the plate.
The Red Sox added two more runs in the top of the fifth. Andrew Benintendi reached first base on a one-out infield hit to second. Former Marlin player Hanley Ramirez blasted a two-run homer to left field on a 1-1 pitch for a four-run margin.
The Marlins fell behind even more in the seventh inning. Mookie Betts lifted a solo shot over the left-field fence on a 1-2 pitch against Chris O'Grady.
In the eighth inning, the Fish picked up a run to make it 6-2. Cameron Maybin lined a base hit into right-center field to score Starlin Castro.
Both teams generated one more run in the ninth.  The BoSox increased their lead to 7-2 on a double by Devers to right-center field which brought in Ramirez. Miami matched it when Castro drove in Tomas Telis with a ground out to first.
