Phillies Jump On Marlins

The Philadelphia Phillies played their home opener and blanked the Miami Marlins 5-0 at Citizens Bank Park on Thursday. The Marlins participated in their first road game of the regular season. The Phillies last won an opening day home game in 2012.
Philadelphia(2-4) got to Marlins starting pitcher Caleb Smith and loaded the bases in the first inning. Maikel Franco slapped a base hit into left field to score Cesar Hernandez and Rhys Hoskins.
The Phillies make it a three-run margin during the bottom of the third. Scott Kingery crossed the plate when Odubel Herrera singled to center field.
Miami(2-5) fell behind more in the seventh inning. Herrera singled to right-center field with one out. Franco followed him and blasted a two-run homer to left field on a 2-1 pitch from Jarlin Garcia.
