The Miami Marlins continued their nine-game road trip as they were defeated by the defending National League champion Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 at Dodger Stadium on Monday night. The Marlins have lost five straight games and eight of their last nine. Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler made his first major league start and allowed no runs on four hits in five innings.
In the fourth inning, Los Angeles(11-10) moved out to a 1-0 lead. Kike Hernandez faced Jarlin Garcia and lifted a solo home run to left field on a 3-2 count with none out. It was the only run Garcia surrendered as he gave up four hits and struck out seven batters in six innings.
Miami(5-17) had to wait until the eight inning to tie the contest 1-1. Brian Anderson knocked in Starlin Castro from second with a one-out base hit up the middle of the diamond.
The Dodgers regained the lead in the bottom of the frame. Chris Taylor led off with a double to deep left field. Three batters later, Cody Bellinger lined a sacrifice fly to right field for Taylor to cross the plate with the go-ahead run.
