The Glades Central Raiders host the Cardinal Newman Crusaders at Effie C. Grear Field on Friday night in a non-district game. The Raiders defeated the Crusaders 40-24 in 2017. Both teams are positioned to make the FHSAA playoffs.
Cardinal Newman(7-1) handled Glades Day 42-19 last week and are currently on a four-game winning streak. Their only loss this year was against Pahokee. They have outscored their opponents 312-140 this season.
Running back Chris D'or will got most of the carries from the backfield and Jayson Martin can be used in short yardage situations. Quarterback Ethan Deberardino looks to find wide receivers Daniel Sledge, Jacob Conley, Jomar Martinez, Tommy St. Julien and Eduardo Cuevas on pass completions.
Glades Central(5-3) enters the contest on a three-game winning streak. They had an impressive win over American Heritage 34-16 last week. The Raiders face their local rival the Pahokee Blue Devils in the Muck Bowl next week.
They mostly depend on their passing game with Davius Richard at quarterback. He has several targets with wide receivers Jymetre Hester, Ja'Vontae Wiliams, Odieu Hilaire and Densa Washington. Running back Jaheim Humphries will get the majority of rushing attempts for the Raiders.
