The Chaminade-Madonna Lions challenge the University School Sharks at AutoNation Field in Davie on Friday night. Both schools are #1 seeds in their own region classifications for the upcoming FHSAA playoffs. The Lions defeated the Sharks 33-14 in a contest last year.
Defending FHSAA Class 3A state champion Chaminade-Madonna(7-2) are 3-0 record on the road and have won their last four games. Their only losses were to Broward County schools Deerfield Beach and American Heritage. The Lions have piled up victories over Booker T. Washington and Doral Academy. They have outscored their opponents 320-116 this season.
Quarterback Daelen Menard will call the signals on offense for the Lions. He has wide receivers John Dunmore, Jordan Cash and Rony Bourdeau to catch the ball down the field. Running backs Thaddius Franklin and Willie Davis IV are expected to get carries from the backfield.
University School(9-0) is undefeated and compiled four shutouts this year. The Sharks have outscored their opponents 468-60 this season and averaged 52 per game. They last lost a game in a Class 4A state semifinal at Cocoa last season. They do have wins over Glades Central, Immokalee, Monsignor Pace, American Heritage and Champagnat Catholic in 2018.
The Sharks are led by the powerful rushing attack of running backs Kenny McIntosh and Michael Hurt. Wide receivers Joshua Sanguinetti, Zay Flowers, Jordan Irizarry and Christian Wells will look to get open downfield for pass receptions from quarterback Nick Vattiato.
