The Dillard Panthers made the trip to Palm Beach County and disposed the Boynton Beach Tigers 41-0 on Friday night. The Panthers clinched the District 15-6A title with the victory.
It did not take long for Panthers to score as Devaughn Mortimer returned a 72-yard punt for a touchdown at 8:24 of the first quarter. Dillard(7-2, 4-0) made it 14-0 when they reached the end zone on a 25-yard carry at the 5:45 mark.
The Panthers compiled 21 points in the second quarter. Quarterback Tyrese McConn brought the ball one yard for the score five seconds into the quarter. On their next possession, running back Leonard Shoultz sprinted up the middle of the field from 35 yards away with 7:35 left.
Boynton Beach(1-8, 1-3) surrendered another touchdown with 43.4 seconds remaining in the first half. McConn rolled out to the right sideline and reached the end zone from eight yards out for a 35-0 lead.
A running clock was used throughout the second half of play. Dillard received the kickoff and eventually scored again with 8:35 to go in the third quarter. Wide receiver Jarvis Lewis caught a 22-yard touchdown pass on the right sideline from McConn.
