The Park Vista Cobras pounded the Spanish River Sharks 65-7 on Monday night in Boca Raton. The District 10-8A contest was postponed on October 12 and rescheduled.
It did not start off right for Spanish River(0-9, 0-6) on their first play from scrimmage. A bad snap ended up over the head of quarterback Connor Tribby and it was batted out of the back of the end zone by a Cobras defender 16 seconds into the contest.
Aydin Henningham returned the ensuing kickoff into Sharks territory. Park Vista(5-3, 4-1) scored on their first play of the drive at the 11:26 mark when quarterback Tyler Thomas threw a 41-yard pass to wide receiver Frantz Derival on the left sideline as he was behind the Sharks secondary to make it 9-0.
The Cobras scored on their next possession when Thomas sent a swing pass to the right side and running back Nick King reached the end zone from 13 yards away at 6:33. Park Vista made it 23-0 with 3:58 left in the first quarter as King raced down the right hash marks on a 39-yard run.
In the second quarter, Park Vista had a 30-point margin at 10:36. Running back Logan Hoffman ran it through the left side from five yards out.
The Sharks broke the shutout with their only points of the contest. Tribby whipped a pass to the left sideline and wide receiver Blake Goldberg caught it for a 75-yard touchdown at the 9:33 mark and they were down 30-7.
Park Vista regained a 30-point gap with 5:38 remaining in the second as Henningham took a shovel pass and raced around the right side to score from 19 yards. They added another touchdown with 3:56 to go when wide receiver Zacoldy Thaddies went around the left end on an inside handoff as sprinted in from 11 yards out.
Spanish River surrendered another score with 7.4 seconds left in the first half and they trailed 51-7. Quarterback Matt Paulo found wide receiver Mason Proch on the right side of the end zone on a 38-yard touchdown pass. A running clock was used throughout the entire second half.
