The Detroit Lions came off a bye week and downed the Miami Dolphins 32-21 at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday. The Fins have lost three of their last four games.
Detroit(3-3) roared out the lead at the 9:18 mark of the first quarter. Quarterback Matthew Stafford threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to tight end Michael Roberts. The Lions added a 29-yard field goal by Matt Prater early in the second quarter at 12:39 for a 10-0 lead.
Miami(4-3) got on the scoreboard with 7:38 to go in the quarteras quarterback Brock Osweiler connected a five-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kenny Stills.
The Lions made it 17-7 with 1:06 remaining in the first half. Running back LaGrette Blount dashed to the left side and scored from two yards out. Prater connected on a 28-yard field goal at 8:37 of the third quarter.
The Fins answered back quickly 82 seconds later. Running back Kenyan Drake raced around the left end and finished off a 54-yard touchdown run.
Detroit expanded their lead with 3:22 left in the third. Stafford tossed a four-yard pass to Roberts for the score. They got a 15-point margin when Prater made another field goal from 35 yards at 10:09 of the fourth quarter.
The Dolphins kept up with their opponent with 6:08 left in the final quarter. Wide receiver Danny Amendola caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Osweiler.
Prater compiled his fourth field goal of the contest with two minutes to go. He was able to nail a 50-yard field goal and put the game away.
