The Miami Hurricanes were defeated by the Boston College Eagles 27-14 on Friday night at Alumni Stadium. The loss by the Canes hurts their chance to repeat as Coastal Division champions in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Boston College(6-2, 3-1) scored initially at 9:01 of the first quarter. Wide receiver Jeff Smith caught a nine-yard pass from quarterback Anthony Brown.
Miami(5-3, 2-2) tied it 7-7 at the 6:24 mark. Quarterback Malik Rosier connected a 13-yard pass to wide receiver Darrell Langham.
The Eagles would extend their lead on their next two possessions. Brown rushed through the middle from five yards out with 3:01 left in the first. Colton Lichtenberg made it 17-7 on a 21-yard field goal at the 9:08 mark of the second quarter.
The Hurricanes closed the gap late in the first half. Running back DeeJay Dallas scored on a run from 10 yards out with 4:56 to go in the second.
The third quarter belonged to Boston College as Lichtenberg booted a 22-yard field goal at 7:52. Running back A.J. Dillon scored on a 14-yard touchdown run for B.C. with 6:32 remaining in the quarter.
