Appel, a Cypress Bay High School grad, does have some Miami broadcasting experience. He was the radio play-by-play announcer of Florida International University football games on Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM during the 2016 season. Appel was once an intern on the Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz.
