Panthers Blanked By Hurricanes

     The Florida Panthers were shut out by the Carolina Hurricanes 3-0 on Thursday night at PNC Arena. The Panthers are in the middle of their longest road trip of the season. 
     Carolina(27-9-3) moved in front 1-0 on the power play with 5:31 left in the first period. Vincent Trocheck fed a pass from the left corner and Sebastian Aho got his 16th goal this season with a slap shot  from the right circle past Chris Driedger. It was the 300th point for Aho in his NHL career. Trocheck extended his assist and point streaks to six games.
     In the second period, the Hurricanes made it 2-0 at the 6:35 mark. Trocheck picked up his 16th goal of the season on an acute-angle wrist shot from below the right circle. It was the sixth consecutive game he scored a goal against his former club. Martin Necas and Brady Skjei were credited with assists on the play. Necas chalked up his first point in six contests. 
     Florida(26-11-4) pulled their goalie for extra attacker with 1:30 left in the third period. It did not work as Necas snapped a shot from the neutral zone for an empty-goal with 51.9 seconds remaining in the contest.
