The Dallas Stars blitzed the Florida Panthers 4-1 at American Airlines Center on Saturday. The Panthers have lost the first contests of their longest road trip of the regular season.
Dallas(15-14-10) scored on their first two shots on net in a 49-second span early in the first period. Jason Robertson put the puck past Sergei Bobrovsky for his 10th goal this season at the one-minute mark. It was the second straight game that he scored.
Joel L'Esperance added another tally at 1:49 for his second goal of the campaign. His only other goal in 2020-21 was against the Panthers on March 27.
The Stars made it 3-0 on the power play at the 9:03 mark. Hintz forwarded the puck from the left wing to Joe Pavelski on the left goal line. He centered it and Jamie Benn lifted a wrist shot from the inner edge of the left circle for his eighth goal this year. Roope Hintz picked up his second assist of his sixth point in the past two games. Pavelski also gathered his second assist of the contest.
Florida(26-12-4) got a power-play goal with 1.5 seconds remaining in the second period. Patric Hornqvist put the puck in the crease from behind the Stars cage and Aleksander Barkov steered it in by Anton Khudobin from the blue paint for his 17th goal of the season.
In the third period, Dallas regained a three-goal lead 4-1 at 1:21. Robertson hustled for the loose puck at his own blue line and carried it into the Florida zone. He fired a snap shot from the high slot for his second tally of the game and 11th goal of the year.
