The Florida Panthers downed the Dallas Stars 3-2 in overtime at American Airlines Center on Tuesday night. The Panthers snapped a three-game losing streak.
Florida(27-12-4) moved in front 1-0 with 8:10 left in the first period. Aleksander Barkov snapped a shot from the top of the crease for his 18th goal of the season. Jonathan Huberdeau put a cross-ice pass to Marcus Nutivaara at the top left circle. He angled a pass to the low slot and Barkov scored from close range. Barkov has compiled five goals in his past five games while Huberdeau picked up his first points in six games.
Dallas(15-14-12) answered back just 52 seconds later to even it up. Jamie Benn touched the puck in the right of the crease and Jason Robertson released a wrist shot from the low slot by Chris Driedger for his 12th goal of the campaign. Robertson now has four goals in the last four contests.
In the second period, the Panthers regained the lead at the 2:45 mark. Radko Gudas scored his first goal in a Panthers uniform on assists from Keith Yandle and Anthony Duclair.
The Stars tied it 2-2 at 8:26 of the third period as Joe Pavelski got his 16th goal this season. Benn and Robertson both collected their second points of the game with assists on the play.
The Panthers scored a power-play goal at 3:09 in overtime to get the victory. Gustav Forsling passed from the top of the zone to his right and Frank Vatrano blasted a one-time slap shot from the top right circle past Anton Khudobin for his 14th goal this season.
