Dwyer-American Heritage Preview

The Dwyer Panthers visit The Corral on Thursday night and face the Delray-American Heritage Stallions. Both squads have been two of the top high school football programs in Palm Beach County throughout the entire season.
Dwyer(8-1, 4-1) took the district runner-up spot in District 13-7A last week with a 21-16 road win at Royal Palm Beach. They will play a first-round playoff game in Oakland Park against the Northeast Hurricanes next week. The Panthers won their first six games of the season which included an opening game home win against Glades Central.
American Heritage(9-0, 4-0) are the defending FHSAA Class 3A state champions and beat the Cardinal Newman Crusaders 49-0 several weeks ago to capture the District 7-3A title again. The Stallions won with a controversial forfeit by Calvary Christian last week 2-0. They will host Chaminade-Madonna next week in a first-round playoff matchup.
The Panthers passing game will be carried out by Rob Nittolo, who recently replaced Clay Meister as their starting quarterback. Clint Stephens, Johnnie Dixon and Ezra Saffold will attempt to get open downfield. The running attack has several options including Alonso Smith, Cortney Lowery and Antonio Knowles.
The Stallions have tremendous speed from their backfield and will run the ball on almost every play. Running back Greg Bryant can break into the open field at anytime and quarterback Marcus Davis is able to run out of the option. Desmond Cain will catch an occasional reception during the game. Fullback Tyler Provo will follow his older brother Nick and his father to attend Syracuse University next fall.
