The Miami Heat played the second of back-to-back road games on Monday night and got by the Houston Rockets 113-110 at Toyota Center. LeBron James, who tied a franchise record with 32 second-half points, made a driving lay-up down the right baseline with 18 seconds left to give the Heat their only lead of the fourth quarter.
James accounted with his seventh double-double of the season with 38 points, ten rebounds and six assists in 40 minutes. Chris Bosh also had a double-double with 24 points and ten rebounds while Dwyane Wade added 19 points.
Chandler Parsons was the Rockets leading scorer with 25 points in 40 minutes. New incoming teammate James Harden popped in 22 points in 40 minutes and Jeremy Lin contributed nine points.
The Heat scored the first nine points on their way to a 16-2 run to begin the game. Miami(6-2) did not commit any turnovers in the first seven minutes as they extended their lead to 22-5. The Rockets followed with 11 consecutive points and were down 25-19 after one quarter. Houston closed the gap to two points 39-37 at 5:41 and were behind 56-52 at halftime.
Houston(3-4) outscored the Heat 33-27 in the third quarter and took their first lead of the game 70-69 with 5:03 remaining. Entering the fourth quarter up 85-82, the Rockets increased their lead to 101-93 with 6:13 left. Miami pulled off a comeback with a 20-9 run to end of the game.
