Mike Redmond has been named as the new manager of the Miami Marlins on Thursday. The team signed him to a three-year deal. He played for the Florida Marlins as a catcher from 1998 until 2004 and helped the franchise win their second World Series title in 2003. He takes over for Ozzie Guillen who lasted just one season.
Redmond served as the manager of the Dunedin Blue Jays in the Florida State League this past season. Prior to that in 2011, he was the manager of the Lansing Lugnuts in the Midwest League. In his major league career, Redmond was with the Minnesota Twins from 2005 until 2009 and with the Cleveland Indians in 2010 before he retired.
