Dave Van Horne Retires

Miami Marlins radio play-by-play announcer Dave Van Horne has announced his retirement. He ends a 53-season reign broadcasting Major League Baseball games. Van Horne was in the broadcast booth for over 8,000 games. He was named the Ford C. Frick Award by the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011.
Van Horne was the primary radio voice of the Marlins from 2001 until 2021. He got to announce a World Series in 2003, where the Marlins won their second championship in franchise history. He worked just 54 games during the 2021 season.
He joined the Montreal Expos during their inaugural season in 1969. He held the post of radio and television play-by-play announcer for 32 seasons.
Glenn Geffner will become the primary radio play-by-play announcer for the club. He will be entering his 15th season in the Marlins radio broadcast booth. Studio host Kyle Sielaff, who joined the Marlins in 2013, is expected to receive more play-by-play opportunites.
