Panthers Survive Canucks

     The Florida Panthers got by the Vancouver Canucks 2-1 in a shootout at Rogers Arena on Friday night. Florida has compiled at least one point in 11 of their last 12 contests. 
     The Panthers reached the midway point of the 2021-22 regular season with their best record after 41 games in franchise history. Florida also leads the National Hockey League with (164) goals. 
     Vancouver(18-18-4) scored first with 3:42 left on the power play for a 1-0 lead. Quinn Hughes released a shot from the top of the zone that deflected off Tanner Pearson and Alex Chiasson in the slot area for a goal. The puck went by Spencer Knight for Chiasson's fourth goal of the campaign
     In the third period, Florida(28-8-5) tied it up 1-1 at the 1:41 mark with the man advantage. Jonathan Huberdeau made a cross-ice pass from above the left circle to Anthony Duclair at the right-circle dot. He centered it to the top of the crease and Sam Reinhart put in a forehand shot by Spencer Martin for his 12th goal of the season. 
     The Panthers would prevail in the shootout. Brock Boeser scored on the Canucks first attempt with a backhand shot. Florida came back as they converted their second and third attempts. Anton Lundell lifted a backhand shot and Aleksander Barkov followed with a one-handed backhand shot for the victory.
