Cardinal Newman At American Heritage Preview

The fight continues for the District 7-3A crown as the American Heritage Stallions host the Cardinal Newman Crusaders at The Corral in Delray Beach on Friday night. The Crusaders are in first place in the district while the Stallions are tied for second in the four-team district. Both schools represented District 7 in the FHSAA playoffs last year and they lost to University School.
American Heritage(4-3, 1-1), who are the defending district champions, have played one of the toughest schedules in Palm Beach County and it has shown. They have alternated wins and losses every week this season and not been able to get momentum. Heritage took a bye last week and had two weeks to prepare for this matchup.
The Stallions made a change at quarterback several weeks ago as they shifted Warren Robinson from his running back spot. Along with Robinson, Devin Singletary and Shacorey Foster will get a load of carries from the backfield. They have numerous options to receive the ball that include wide receivers Desmond Cain and Trenard Davis.
Cardinal Newman(6-2, 2-0) has the inside track to win the district title with a victory in this game. They lost their first two games of the regular season and then pulled off a six-game winning streak.
Crusaders wide receiver Travis Rudolph is a scoring threat every time he touches the ball. He leads all of Palm Beach County in receptions and receiving yards. Running back Erick Hartnett will get most of the rushes for them on offense and some carries will be made by Thomas Talenti, Arrian Parham and Jeramey Worthen. Daniel Cole should dictate the pace for the Crusaders as quarterback.
