The Florida Panthers hosted the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday afternoon and came out with the losing end of a shutout 3-0 at BB&T Center. The Cats have lost four of their last five games while the Kings captured their third straight game.
Los Angeles(4-2-0) was able to get two goals in the second period to go ahead. Daniel Carcillo scored his first goal in a Kings uniform at 8:46 as he snapped a shot from the low right circle. He got the feed from Mike Richards who was behind the Panthers cage as the former Flyers connected on the play.
The Kings extended their lead at 14:55 when Justin Williams put in a wrist shot from the slot area after Anze Kopitar passed to him from the right side of the crease.
L.A. added another goal at 12:28 of the third period as Jared Stoll sent a pass from the right wing to the low slot where Jordan Nolan redirected the puck in with the backhand by Florida(2-4-0)Jacob Markstrom.
Ben Scrivens, who is now a perfect 3-0-0 against the Cats, made his first start for the Kings and picked up his first victory as he stopped all 20 shots. His previous shutout was in Sunrise against the Panthers back on February 18 last season. Markstrom fell to 1-2-0 as he made 26 saves. There were not many chances on the power play as Florida went 0-for-2 while Los Angeles went 0-for-1.
