The Park Vista Cobras will host the John I. Leonard Lancers on Friday night at G.L. Homes Stadium in a District 10-8A matchup. Both schools have gone in different directions so far this year.
Park Vista(3-1, 1-0) have won their last three games after they lost their opening game to Corlerain in Cincinnati, Ohio. They followed that with victories over the Palm Beach Gardens Gators, Seminole Ridge Hawks and Santaluces Chiefs.
The Cobras will be led by quarterback Qwad Martin who can run the ball and throw screen passes for long gains. He has not thrown an interception since the first game of the season. They have a bunch of options from the backfield which includes running backs Emmanuel Smith, Jamerius Bentley and Dalton Barkman. Park Vista has returned three touchdowns on special teams this season so look out for Chauncy Mason, who is the younger brother of Auburn University running back Tre Mason.
John I. Leonard(1-4, 1-0) began the season with a tough out-of-district schedule against several possible playoff teams. They lost by at least 27 points to the Palm Beach Gardens Gators, Pahokee Blue Devils and Cardinal Newman Crusaders. On the positive side, they defeated district opponent Spanish River 38-7 two weeks ago at home.
The Lancers are a dangerous team on special teams as they have made three touchdown returns in 2013. Tavaras Martin leads the team on offense as quarterback and he will get most of the carries along with running back Wisen Juste. They will get occasional receptions from wide receivers Kaian Duvenger and Larry Dunnon.
