The NCAA held a conference call on Tuesday morning to announce their decision on the University of Miami athletic program. The Hurricanes will not get a bowl ban, however they will have to surrender nine athletic scholarships over the next three years.
The NCAA investigation into the University of Miami was initiated because of Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro and his influence on the athletic program. The school waited almost three years for a decision by the NCAA on this matter.
An item by the University of Miami that had an impact on the NCAA report of 107 pages was their self-imposed bowl ban of the last two years along with the decision not to participate in the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference championship game after winning the Coastal Division.
