Chaminade-Madonna And Oxbridge Academy Title Preview

The Chaminade-Madonna Lions take on the Oxbridge Academy Thunderwolves in the FHSAA Class 3A state championship game at Camping World Stadium in Orlando on Saturday morning. It is a rematch from last year when the Lions defeated the Thunderwolves 30-13 in a regional final game at Cooper City. Both schools are based in South Florida and are around 60 miles away from each other.
Chaminade-Madonna(10-2) made it to the Class 3A championship game in 2016 and fell to defending champion Trinity Christian Academy. They enter this contest on a nine-game winning streak. The Lions compiled two home shutouts to begin their march to Orlando as they blanked American Heritage 38-0 in a regional semifinal and blasted Benjamin 56-0 in a regional final. They went to Clearwater Central Catholic for the state semifinal two weeks ago and were victorious 49-3. The Lions have outscored their three playoff opponents 143-3 in November. They have outscored their last nine opponents 418-42 and averaged 46 points for and four points against per game.
The first thing you notice about the Lions offense is their rushing attack with Auburn University commit and running back Shaun Shivers, who can score on a run from any part of the field. University of Alabama commit and wide receiver Xavier Williams will be the primary target for quarterback Daelen Menard. Wide receivers Akeem Hayes, Marvin Alexander, Marlin Mayo and Logan Giordano can also can the ball from Menard.
Oxbridge Academy(10-1) looks to avenge their loss to the Lions in the FHSAA playoffs last season. They have won 10 consecutive games since they lost their season opener and all their playoff games has been played on their home field. The Thunderwolves topped Kings Academy 42-7 in a regional semifinal, defeated Melbourne Central Catholic 32-7 in a regional final and stomped the Florida State University Seminoles 41-0 in a state semifinal. They have outscored their opponents 420-53 this season and averaged 38 points for and four points against per game.
The Thunderwolves have two running backs to split the amount of carries from the backfield with James Meeks and Luis Gonzalez. Quarterback Gio Richardson gets the opportunity to run the offense. He has numerous options to connect passes to which includes wide receivers V'Lique Carter, De' John King, Keidron Smith, Carlos Silencieux, Jordan Cash and C.J. Smith.
