The Miami Marlins traded second baseman Dee Gordon to the Seattle Mariners for three players on Thursday. It was the first major deal made by the new ownership group of Derek Jeter and Bruce Sherman that took over the franchise following the end of the 2017 regular season.
Gordon was acquired by the Marlins from the Los Angeles Dodgers in a seven-play deal in December 2014. He led the National League with a .333 batting average, 58 stolen bases and 205 base hits during his first season with the Fish in 2015. Gordon played a portion of the 2016 season and was suspended for 80 games by Major League Baseball because of violating their drug policy. He led the National League again in stolen bases with 60 and had a .308 batting average in 2017.
