Dolphins Take Care Of Patriots

     The Miami Dolphins wore their 1970s throwback uniforms as they defeated the New England Patriots 27-20 at Hard Rock Stadium on Monday night. The Dolphins still have an outside shot to make the postseason. The Patriots fell one game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers for the best record in the American Football Conference.
     Miami(6-7) slowly took the lead during the first quarter. Cody Parkey kicked a 30-yard field goal at 9:05 and a 44-yard field goal at 3:53.
     New England(10-3) moved ahead 7-6 at 6:24 mark of the second quarter. Running back Rex Burkhead rushed in for a touchdown from three yards out. The Fins regained the lead with 3:39 to go in the second when Jarvis Landry caught a five-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jay Cutler. Stephen Gostkowski closed the gap for the Pats to 13-10 as he converted on a 46-yard field goal with six seconds left in the first half.
     The Dolphins compiled two touchdown in the third quarter and had a 17-point margin. Cutler connected a 25-yard pass to wide receiver Jakeem Grant at 11:09 and he tossed a four-yard pass to Landry with 4:48 left in the third.
     The Patriots scored at 13:09 of the fourth quarter to make it 27-17. Running back James White, a St. Thomas Aquinas grad, made a three-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Tom Brady. Gosttkowski made a 33-yard field goal with 57 seconds remaining in the fourth and cut the deficit to 27-20.
