The Miami Heat held on to stop the Dallas Mavericks 113-101 at American Airlines Arena on Friday night. The Heat began a stretch in which they play seven of the next eight games at home.
Miami(17-15) scored the first 12 points of the contest and rumbled out to a 15-2 advantage four minutes in. They were up 32-23 after one quarter. The Mavs chipped at the deficit and both clubs were tied 53-53 at halftime. Dallas(9-24) were outscored 29-20 in the third quarter and trailed 82-73. The Heat, who have won six of their last eight games, pulled away in the fourth.
The Heat got 28 points from Wayne Ellington and 24 points from Dion Waiters in the victory. Tyler Johnson combined 19 points and seven rebounds while Bam Adebayo contributed 14 points along with eight rebounds. Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki dropped 20 points and Harrison Barnes also had 20. Yogi Ferrell drained in a team-high 23 points for Dallas.
