The Florida Panthers Radio Network with play-by-play announcer Doug Plagens was moved on Saturday night from Miami Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM to Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM due to the broadcast of the University of Miami Hurricanes in the ACC Championship Game.
It was the first time ever that both top local sports format radio stations in South Florida had an agreement to move a sporting event to the other station. WQAM and The Ticket became part of the same company on November 17 when CBS Radio merged with Entercom Communications.
The Florida Panthers Radio Network had previously been moved during a certain broadcasting conflict from WQAM to another local radio station. Certain stations that have broadcast Florida Panthers games in Dade County and Broward County includes 940 WINZ-AM and 880 WZAB-AM.
