Marlins Avoid Sweep

The Miami Marlins prevented a three-game series sweep with 5-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at loanDepot park on Sunday. The Marlins are 2-0 at home this season wearing their throwback teal and black jerseys. The Fish will host the St. Louis Cardinals for the next three days.
Miami(10-11) ripped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Jakob Marsee scored on a wild pitch. Heriberto Hernandez then grounded into a double play for Xavier Edwards to score. Liam Hicks followed with a base hit into left field and Otto Lopez crossed the plate.
Milwaukee(12-9) made it 3-1 in the top of the sixth. Garrett Mitchell grounded out to first and David Hamilton reached home.
The Marlins expanded their lead to 5-1 with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Javier Sanoja knocked in Hicks and Owen Caissie on a single into center field.
The Brewers cut it to 5-3 during the eighth inning. Gary Sanchez drove in Sal Frelick and Mitchell with a base hit up the middle.
