Tigers Sweep Marlins

     The Detroit Tigers blitzed the Miami Marlins 8-2 on Sunday at Comerica Park for a three-game series sweep. The Marlins will visit the Atlanta Braves for their next series. Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal threw a no-hitter through five innings. 
     Detroit(7-9) jumped on Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara with three runs in the bottom of the first for a 3-0 lead. Dillon Dingler smashed a three-run homer to left field on a 0-2 pitch with Colt Keith and Riley Greene aboard.
      The Tigers expanded their lead to 4-0 in the fifth inning. Kevin McGonigle lifted a solo home run to right-center field on the first pitch. It was McGonigle's first home run in the majors. 
      It became 6-0 for Detroit in the bottom of the sixth. Kerry Carpenter golfed a two-run homer to right field on a 1-2 pitch. Greene scored in front of him on the play. Three batters later, the Tigers made it 7-0. Javier Baez knocked in Spencer Torkelson with a base hit into center field
     Miami(8-8) chalked up one run in the top of the seventh and it was 7-1. Otto Lopez hit a sacrifice fly into the right-field corner and Jakob Marsee crossed the plate. In the eighth inning, Detroit increased their lead to 8-1. McGonigle scored on a wild pitch.
     The Marlins got one run in the top of the ninth and closed it to 8-2. Lopez hammered a solo home run to left field on a 1-1 count.
