Dodgers Escape Marlins

     The two-time reigning World Series champions the Los Angeles Dodgers survived the Miami Marlins 5-4 at Dodger Stadium on Monday night. The Marlins are in the middle of a six-game California road swing. 

     The Fish lost their ninth consecutive game in Dodger Stadium going back in 2023. The Dodgers are tied with the best record in Major League Baseball this season alongside the Atlanta Braves. 

     Los Angeles(20-9) raced out to a 2-0 advantage in the bottom of the first. Teoscar Hernanadez singled up the middle to score Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman. 

     Miami(13-16) put up one run during the fourth inning and they trailed 2-1. Javier Sanoja reached first with the bases loaded on a fielding error and Otto Lopez crossed the plate. 

     The Marlins moved ahead 4-2 in the top of the fifth. Liam Hicks socked a three-run homer down the right-field line on a 1-2 pitch for his sixth home run of the season. Jakob Marsee and Xavier Edwards scored in front of him on the play. 

     The Dodgers overcame the Fish in the bottom of the ninth with three runs to win the game 5-4. Ohtani hit a ground-rule double to right field for Andy Pages to reach home. Three batters later, Kyle Tucker picked up a game-winning single into center field with two outs for Dalton Rushing and Ohtani to score.
