Marlins Edge Yankees

The Miami Marlins prevented a three-game sweep by the New York Yankees with a 7-6 victory at Yankee Stadium on Sunday. The Marlins return home to take on the Cincinnati Reds tomorrow.
Miami(6-3) broke out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Otto Lopez singled up the middle and Austin Slater crossed the plate.
New York(7-2) leaped ahead 3-1 in the bottom of the first. Ben Rice belted a three-run homer to right field on a 2-1 pitch. Trent Grisham and Aaron Judge scored in front of him on the play.
The Yankees made it 4-1 in the third inning. Judge reached home because of a catching error by Otto Lopez at second base on an attempted double play.
The Fish added one run in the top of the fourth and they trailed 4-2. Xavier Edwards doubled into the right-field corner for Connor Norby to score.
The Marlins cut it to 4-3 during the sixth inning. Jose Caballero made a throwing error at short and Jakob Marsee scored.
Miami compiled four more runs in the top of the eighth and jumped in front 7-4. Graham Pauley knocked in Lopez on a double to the right-field wall. Edwards followed with a base hit up the middle and Griffin Conine touched home.
The Bronx Bombers got two runs in the bottom of the ninth and fell short 7-6. Former Marlins player Jazz Chisholm Jr. drove in Cody Bellinger and Rice on a two-out double into the right-center field gap.
