Panthers Puncture Maple Leafs

     The Florida Panthers dropped the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-2 at Scotiabank Arena on Saturday night. It was the Panthers final regular season road game of the 2025-26 season. 
     Both teams have two of the three worst records in the Eastern Conference. Panthers center Wilmer Skoog made his NHL debut. 
     Florida(38-38-4) rocketed out to a 1-0 lead just 23 seconds into the opening frame. Eetu Luostarinen chalked up his 11th goal this season on a wrist shot from the right goal line. 
     The Cats increased it to 2-0 at the 5:32 mark of the first. Cole Reinhardt backhanded a shot from the blue paint for his sixth goal of the year. 
     In the second period, the Panthers expanded their lead to 3-0 at 1:32. Tomas Nosek released a wrist shot from the high slot past Joseph Woll for his first goal in 2025-26. 
     Toronto(32-34-14) tried to get back into the contest midway through the second and cut it to 3-2. William Nylander scored a power-play goal with a forehand shot from the high slot by Daniil Tarasov with 9:05 remaining and he found the net on a snap shot from the slot with 6:44 left for his 27th and 28th goals of the season. 
     In the final period, Florida made it to 4-2 at the 4:13 mark. Mackie Samoskevich snapped a shot from the slot area for his 11th goal this season. 
     The Panthers added empty-net goals late in the third period for a 6-2 advantage. A.J. Greer collected his 16th goal of the campaign with 4:04 to go. Nosek followed with his second tally of the game and of the season.
