The Florida Panthers Stanley Cup title reign ended officially on Saturday night. They were eliminated from postseason contention to play in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Florida had their string of six consecutive playoff appearances extinguished.
The Panthers were the defending two-time Stanley Cup champions. The Cats defeated the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final during the past two seasons.
The streak of eight straight postseason series wins for Florida was also stopped. It was the third longest streak in the Stanley Cup Playoffs over the past 26 years. The Tampa Bay Lightning won 11 consecutive playoff series from 2020 to 2022 and the Pittsburgh Penguins won nine straight postseason series from 2016 to 2018.
Florida has also won 11 of their past 12 Stanley Cup Playoff series. It ties the Lightning for most playoff series victories by a team during a three-year stretch going back to 2000.
Only the Panthers and Lightning have made three straight appearances in the Stanley Cup Final in the last 40 years. The New York Islanders reached the Stanley Cup Final five consecutive years from 1980 to 1984.
