Miami(5-3) stormed in front 2-0 in the top of the first against former Marlins starting pitcher Ryan Weathers. Heriberto Hernandez tripled to right-center field to score Agustin Ramirez and Otto Lopez.
The Marlins added another running the second inning for a 3-0 lead. Ramirez singled into center field to score Xavier Edwards.
It became 4-0 for the Fish in the top of the fourth. Jakob Marsee drove in Ramirez with a base hit to left field.
New York(7-1)broke the shutout in the bottom of the fifth and closed it to 4-2. Cody Bellinger smashed a two-run homer to right-center field on a 1-1 pitch with Aaron Judge aboard.
The Yankees moved ahead 5-4 in the sixth inning. Trent Grisham singled through the left side to score Paul Goldschmidt. Judge then knocked in Jose Caballero with a single down the right-field line. Bellinger followed with a sacrifice fly to left field which scored Grisham.
The Bronx Bombers increased their lead to 6-4 in the seventh inning. Giancarlo Stanton was able to score on a passed ball.
Miami evened it up 6-6 during the top of the eighth. Javier Sanoja doubled into the left-field corner for Liam Hicks and Edwards to reach home.
New York answered back in the bottom of the eighth with three runs for a 9-6 advantage. Stanton singled up the middle and Ryan McMahon along with Judge crossed the plate. Ben Rice later scored on a passed ball for a Yankees three-run lead.
