Booker T. Washington At Miami Central Preview

It is a local battle between two of the top high school football programs in Dade County as the Booker T. Washington Tornadoes challenge the Miami Central Rockets at Traz Powell Stadium in Miami on Thursday night. It will be unusual that neither school will be involved in this game as a defending state champion as they have been in recent years.
Booker T. Washington(1-0) lost in the state semifinal game on the road against eventual state champion Cocoa last season to end their four-year run as FHSAA Class 4A state champions. The Tornadoes had no problems last week when they visited Dillard and defeated the Panthers 25-8. Quarterback Daniel Richardson will led the Tornadoes offense down the field. Richardson looks to connect with wide receivers Tyquan Thornton, Zahir Turner and Willie Davis.
Miami Central(1-0), who were the four-time Class 6A state champs, could not defend their title last season after finishing third in District 16 and did not qualify for the FHSAA playoffs. They were impressive in their opening game and they beat Class 3A state finalist Chaminade-Madonna 48-24 last week. The Rockets have a well-rounded offensive attack with James Cook as the big threat at running back. Quarterback Maurice Underwood can fire the ball downfield to wide receivers Terrell Perriman and Zeryus Coleman.
