The Flanagan Falcons make the long trip up to West Palm Beach and take on the Oxbridge Academy Thunderwolves at William H. Pitt Stadium on Thursday night. The Thunderwolves visited the defending FHSAA Class 8A state champion Flanagan in the season opener last year and shocked the Falcons with a low-scoring victory.
Oxbridge Academy(0-1)) won the District 7 crown in Class 3A for the second consecutive time last season. They were eliminated by the Chaminade-Madonna Lions in the regional final. The Thunderwolves, who lost to Archbishop Wood 14-13 last week in Orlando, are led on offense by quarterback Gio Richardson who can run the ball out of the backfield along with running back James Meeks. The primary targets in the passing game for Richardson will be wide receivers Carlos Silencieux, Keidron Smith and V'Lique Carter.
Flanagan(1-0) captured the District 12 title in Class 8A in 2016 and won their season opener last week against McArthur 40-37. There has been a heavy turnover on the roster with one returning starter both on offense and defense. Look for wide receiver Wayne Ruby to make several receptions.
