Marlins Outscore Phillies

The Miami Marlins finished a four-game set with a 9-8 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on Thursday. The Fish finished the road trip with a 5-2 record and have won 10 of their last 13 games.
Miami(63-63) struck quickly during the top of the first. Marcell Ozuna knocked in Giancarlo Stanton with a ground-rule double to center.
In the second inning, Philadelphia(46-80) was able to even it up at 1-1. Phillies rookie Rhys Hoskins connected with a solo home run to left on a 0-1 count for his eighth of the year.
The Marlins came up with a rally in the third inning. Giancarlo Stanton compiled his 47th home run and 100th RBI with a solo homer on a 2-1 pitch to center field. Four batters later, Derek Dietrich drove in Christian Yelich with a single into right field to make it 3-1.
The Phillies answered back in the bottom of the frame with five runs. Hoskins hit a single into shallow center field to score Jake Thompson and Freddy Galvis. Tommy Joseph came up next and smashed a three-run homer to left field on a 1-0 count which scored Nick Williams and Hoskins. It was Joseph's 19th home run of the season.
The Phils continued their momentum in the bottom of the fourth and extended their margin to 8-3. Williams muscled a two-run double to right-center field as Cameron Rupp and Cesar Hernandez crossed the plate.
The Fish garnered two runs in the top of the fifth inning. A.J. Ellis smacked a two-run homer to left-center field on a 1-0 pitch and Dietrich scored in front of him.
In the sixth inning, Miami compiled three runs to tie the contest 8-8. Yelich cranked a solo home run to left, then two batters later J.T. Realmuto nailed a two-run inside-the-park homer. It was the 18th inside-the-park homer in Marlins history and the feat was last done by Realmuto in September 2015.
The Marlns regained the lead in the eighth inning. Realmuto lined a sacrifice fly to center and Yelich scored.
