The Deerfield Beach Bucks went to Traz Powell Stadium in Miami and upended the Carol City Chiefs 6-2 on Friday night in the opening game of the 2017 regular season. The Bucks made it to the Class 8A state semifinal game last year while Carol City entered the contest as the defending FHSAA Class 6A state champions.
It surprisingly turned out to be a low scoring game. Deerfield Beach(1-0) converted two field goals during the second quarter. Carol City(0-1) was able to get their only points on a safety in the final quarter.
