The Philadelphia Phillies pounded the Miami Marlins 8-0 at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday night. The loss ended the Marlins three-game winning streak.
The Phillies got out to a 1-0 margin during the bottom of the first. Tommy Joseph doubled in Nick Williams on a shot into left-center field.
Miami(62-63) surrendered five more runs in the third inning. Freddy Galvis drove in Cesar Hernandez with a base hit to left. Rhys Hoskins later blasted a three-run homer to left field on 3-2 pitch. Galvis and Williams scored in front of him on the home run. Maikel Franco then scored on a base hit by Jorge Alfaro.
Philadelphia(46-79) continued the rout in the bottom of the sixth to make it 8-0. Hoskins knocked in Galvis and Williams with a double down the left-field line.
